2012 William Hill Estate Winery Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 750mL, Official Wine of the PGA TOUR®
The Napa Valley AVA is renowned for its long growing season, marked by warm, sunny days and cool evenings. These growing conditions are ideal for allowing grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. We selected 95% of the grapes for this wine - including all Cabernet Sauvignon fruit - from our estate vineyard in Napa Valley. In 2012, relatively mild conditions throughout the growing season paved the way for even ripening in the Napa Valley. Wines from this vintage are showing excellent flavor and firm structure.
The 2014 vintage marked the third year of the California drought. Warm and dry conditions resulted in the earliest harvest start date, August 1, in the history of Talley Vineyards. At 9 inches, total rainfall was less than 50% of the average for Coastal San Luis Obispo County. Ideal growing conditions during bloom time in the spring afforded excellent fruit set with very little mildew or botrytis pressure during the remainder of the season. The wines produced in 2014 share many of the characteristics that made the 2012 and 2013 vintages so appealing: charm, elegance and balance.
